In many indigenous communities sitting in circle was a tool used to support the community in deepening into the heart of trust. In our modern world, the energy of competition, the energy of trying to out perform each other has uprooted us from the heart of learning how to honor each other as we are.
In a meditation many years ago, sitting along a steam in Kentucky, the voice of nature revealed that all things in life have their purpose and their place in the scheme of the Universe. Looking down at the tiny fish swimming in the water, pondering the moss on the stones, and capturing the flight of the soaring hawk, it dawned in mind that all things in life serve their role. How can we say that the hawk is more important than the tiny bug floating on the stick? How can we say that Harvard graduate is more important than a janitor sweeping the floors of a school? In nature, this ladder does not exist. In nature, all things rest in the beauty of the greater mystery.
Come, sit in circle and just be! Come and just be you in a community intended to honor who you are, however you are.
When we judge, we divide, but when we accept and honor the indwelling beauty of this life, as it is, right now, we sit as one. In this communal acceptance we come know how incredibly powerful we all are.
Come, and Sit! Come and be you!
